Westhampton Beach

Located about 78 miles from Midtown Manhattan, Westhampton Beach is a huge draw for vacationers looking for a getaway near the city. But it’s the folksy arts scene, thriving downtown, competitive school system, and the family-friendly environment is making people stay for good.

Niche.com also ranked it the 3rd best place to retire in New York, citing housing costs and access to amenities, among other factors.

At just three square miles, the village has a tranquil atmosphere, even at the height of summer – making this seaside community on Long Island’s southeast coast the kind of place where you can slow down and appreciate what’s truly important.

Westhampton Beach Real Estate

Westhampton Beach is widely regarded as the “Gateway to the Hamptons”, being the first to offer summer rentals in the area when the Long Island Rail started bringing in waves of vacationers in 1870.

Today, it is an established residential enclave as much as it is a bona fide tourist destination. More than 3,700 people call this place home year round.

What makes the village so desirable, apart from its proximity to the city and its natural scenery, is its unique geography. Its residential areas are linked to the rest of the East End by canals and creeks that serve as navigable waterways.

A quick boat ride on Moniebogue Canal takes residents to the docks south of downtown, where they have access to shops, restaurants, the local park, and the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.

Residents are also spoiled by their proximity to some of the most beautiful beaches in the country:

    • Rogers Beach
    • Pike’s Beach
    • Cupsogue Beach
    • Lashley Beach – Jetty 4

All of these beaches are situated along Dune Road, which is the main thoroughfare and one of Long Island’s barrier islands at its easternmost point.

The diverse housing stock consists of single-family homes, condos, and townhomes. Buyers have a mix of inland and oceanfront properties to choose from. Vacant lots are also available.

Luxury homes tend to be larger and offer better value for money than most other villages in the Hamptons. Such homes can be found along Oneck Lane, the village’s estate section.

The local population is made up of long-term residents and newcomers, the majority of whom are skilled professionals.
