Remsenburg

Located in the town of Southampton, this tranquil hamlet is one-half of the Remsenburg-Speonk community, which is geographically divided. The former sits along Moriches Bay and its inlets while the latter is further inland.

Remsenburg itself lies on the southern portion of Speonk, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the south, Speonk River to the east, and the Remsenburg Fire District line to the west.

Enjoy peace and quiet in an idyllic bay setting. The hamlet brings you close to the beach and away from the hustle and bustle of South Fork’s towns. With a population of more than 2,600, it is largely residential. Except for the summer tourist season, Remsenburg is made up mostly of residents during the rest of the year.

Anyone who goes for a walk through Main Street will be captivated by the sight of the cottages and antique shops, while those who follow one of several lanes down to the bay and creeks will find themselves stunned by the hamlet’s natural beauty.

Remsenburg NY Real Estate

At three square miles, Remsenburg is a small and tight-knit community. Located 75 miles from Midtown Manhattan, it’s an attractive prospect for buyers who want a shorter travel time to and from the city. Gorgeous beaches and an assortment of shops and restaurants are added attractions at nearby Westhampton, Westhampton Beach, Eastport, and Northampton.

The hamlet, along with the villages of Westhampton Beach, Quogue, and Quiogue, have become a popular option for homebuyers – testament to the growing desirability of towns west of the canal.

The real estate market also stands to benefit from the Town of Easthampton’s decision to limit helicopter visits to the East End because the ruling is likely to drive buyers to Remsenburg, which is more accessible.

The Remsenburg Association, formed in 1946, organizes community events and takes measures to preserve the hamlet’s rural character. Manned by volunteers, the association fosters the beautification of the hamlet, which helps protect property values in the area.

It also runs the Remsenburg Academy & Art Gallery, where fine art exhibits and social events are held.

The Westhampton Yacht Squadron, a sailing club located in the hamlet, provides opportunities for recreation and socializing.

The hamlet’s beaches lend themselves well to water activities, and residents can rent slips at the Remsenburg Marina, where boats as large as 45 feet can be accommodated.

Residents are served by the Remsenburg-Speonk School District, which offers education from kindergarten to sixth grade.
